      CSI cancelled after 15 years

CSI cancelled after 15 years - Telegraph
Most popular TV show in the world axed by US network CBS

CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, frequently named the most watched television series in the world, has been cancelled by network US CBS after 15 years.

The show will conclude on September 27 with a two-hour feature-length episode starring William Petersen, who played Dr Gilbert “Gil” Grissom for a decade. Marg Helgenberger, who played blood spatter analyst Catherine Willows for 13 years since the show’s inception, will also make a return.

The show was cancelled after scoring just over 11 million viewers with its latest season. At its height, CSI attracted 26 million American viewers and 63 million viewers worldwide.

Ted Danson, who stars in the current series as Supervisor DB Russell, will move to CSI: Cyber, a recent spinoff, which also features recent Oscar-winner Patricia Arquette. CSI: Cyber currently attracts a similar amount of viewers to the ailing flagship show. Other spinoffs in the franchise include CSI: New York and CSI: Miami, both off which didn't last as long as the flagship.

"It's easy to forget this was one of the strongest, longest-running dramas in TV history and really important to the network," said CBS executive Kelly Kahl.

CSI is the seventh longest-running US primetime show of all time and was, according to Eurodata Worldwide, the most watched show in the world. It won the International Television Audience Award for a Drama TV Series at the the Monte Carlo Television Festival five times in seven years.

      Lol!

      Nor have I, FelixTCat.

Never knew this. Surely, is this for real…

Britain is being left without skilled workers as the popularity of television dramas drives an increase in "trendy" college courses, according to researchers.

Ok, the series are popular, but they have also managed to secure some great tunes to use for the theme tunes...

Never watched an episode of CSI
Always seems to be on one channel or another though.
Why on earth did they use The Who for their them tunes.

The Who's Who Are You? is always a great track to test your speaker setup, great production on that track.

Re: CSI cancelled after 15 years

One of my favourite programs. I did think it went down the hill a bit when Ted Danson took over from William Petersen. I never much liked CSI Miami, David Caruso is a bit of a poser. In every episode you were guaranteed to see him standing with one hand on his hip while the other held the leg of a pair of shades to his mouth. CSI New York was not too bad, although the lead, Gary Sinise was a bit wooden.

I seem to recall that one of the key people involved in the development of the show loves The Who and their music ties in quite well with the theme of a CSI.

The actual theme tune used was specially recorded for the series to fit the credits.
