Connecting SCART DVD to Sky HD+ box

I have just upgraded to SKY HD+ and this connects to my new Hitachi ultra thin HDTV via HDMI no problem. The tv has only one HDMI input.

Can I connect my DVD player to the back of the SKY HD+ box by Scart lead to feed direct to the TV via the HDMI connection from Sky box to TV.

Do I need to change anything in system settings.

Just connect it directly to the TV via SCART, it won't be in HD anyway if you run it through the HD receiver using SCART.

The TV has one HDMI input and no Scart inputs

That's the compromise for it being ultra thin.

Re: Connecting SCART DVD to Sky HD+ box

Does it not come with:-

The Audio Video Center (AVC08U) is ideal for viewers who don't have a digital cable or satellite tuner -- can be used to switch between HDMI (3) and component inputs (2) and includes a digital TV tuner
AVC08U Inputs:
3 HDMI (V.1.3a, Deep Color, x.v.Color™, Auto Lip Sync, CEC)
2 Component Video / Audio Inputs
2 Composite Video / Audio Inputs
1 USB 1.1 port for Software Upgrade
1 RF/Antenna Input

I thought they were packaged together. You could always get a HDMI switcher but I guess SCART to the HD box would cover it.

Still how do you connect the xbox, PS2 etc?

i think had a look at getting the TV you have, I'm not sure if you can daisy chain the DVD like you're suggesting (just try it and see). What you are able to do is use the VGA port on the TV but it requires a custom cable to do so (pretty cheap to buy or make)

They only shipped these initially and then stopped producing them, recently Richer Sounds has been selling the TV's off cheap but without the media units and there not available anywhere anymore.

A HDMI switch is a must have for future upgrades

Even with the lack of inputs it is a stunning looking TV and a brill picture. I was eventually swayed by the new Panasonic plasma range but for the price the Hitachi was 2nd in line.
