Schumacher isn't the stig. Few stories to back this up. The ferrari FXX that was there was black. Ferrari made 30 Ferrari FXX's in Red and Yellow. Then one special one FOR Michael in black. He was there to drive the Ferrari and was sort of the star in a reasonbly priced car at the end.

From a reliable source. The real stig DOES work for Ferrari. But it isn't Schumacher. When i say the real stig i mean the stig that does the lap times on the track. Obviously a few seasons ago when they did the snow mobile jump off the ramp that was a pro sledder.

Just done a bit of digging into test drivers. And if you look in this photo

And in an older episode at the hammerhead the camera cuts and you can see his hair line being very dark. So, my moneys on Gianni Morbidelli.

The more I think about this, the more I am convinced they have done this, just to shut the newspapers up.

Maybe Schumacher isn't the proper stig, but either way it was funny as anything, and certainly got everyone talking about the new series.

Agreed!

I was expecting somebody totally obscure, like Gordon Brown to be under that helmet (i know he had the wrong physique), but it was either him or Ozzy Osbourne.

I Am the Stig

Ben Collins is a consultant to Top Gear, and has been "The Stig" more than any other driver.

However, he can't be everywhere at the same time, so others have worn the white suit in his place.

The Black Stig was, of course, Perry McCarthy.
