Basic Requirements

Activation of iPhone and connection to the O2 network is different from any other device in the mobile market. You do it completely through iTunes on your computer. Getting a few things ready now means you'll be ready for iPhone when it arrives.

To get ready for iPhone, you will need to:

* Ensure that you have a broadband connection and that your Mac or PC meets the minimum specification required for iTunes.

* Download and install the latest version of iTunes from Apple (UK and Ireland) - iPod + iTunes.

* Migrate your existing mobile contacts from your handset or SIM into Outlook, Outlook Express or Address Book on the Mac.

* Upload your music onto iTunes.

Eligibility

Once you've got your iPhone, the next thing to do is activate it. This couldn't be simpler. All you have to do is enter into an 18 month Pay Monthly contract with O2 on one of our exclusive iPhone tariffs. These start at just £35 per month.

You need to be over 18, pass a credit check and have a bank account for the monthly direct debits. If you already have an iTunes account, perfect. If you have to create one, you'll need a debit or credit card. And an email address you access regularly because billing is online only.

You sign up for your Pay Monthly tariff and contract as part of the activation process so just make sure that you have this information to hand when you are ready to activate your iPhone.

To give everyone a chance, there'll be a limit of two iPhones per customer in-store and online. Oh, and we're afraid we can't accept cash.

New & Existing customers

If you're an O2 customer billed by Carphone Warehouse, or you have a mobile phone with another network, you'll need to contact them to obtain a "PAC code" in order to transfer your number to your iPhone.

This process may take up to five working days to complete.

Please be aware that PAC codes are only valid for 30 days.

If you're an existing O2 customer and you receive your bills directly from O2, or you're an O2 Pay & Go customer, during the activation process you'll be asked whether you'd like to transfer your existing mobile number to your iPhone.

This process can take up to 5 working days to complete, but don't worry - we'll provide you with a temporary number so you can start enjoying your iPhone straight away.

Revolutionary Phone

iPhone is a revolutionary new mobile that allows you to make a call by simply tapping a name or number in your address book, a favorites list, or a call log.

I'm not sure I feel too comfortable with this new advertorial style on the site.

The iPhone may be the greatest thing since sliced bread in Apple's view, but others see it as very expensive to buy and use. £10 doesn't go far towards that.

There is a widely held view that the Nokia N95 offers a better package of features and greater usability for a lot less.

Hi

The description above is the only text that is authorised to be used for the iphone.

As for the Nokia, there isn't a specific offer for that phone, but there is up to £30 for signing up to CPW in another thread. We had to keep both separate, as people could say, you said up to £30 for a phone, when in fact the offer does not include the iphone, I assume because Apple have not been generous with the markup.
