Sky Phone line is it still needed?

      Hello,

Today I have had a BT Engineer come to our home due to a faulty line, they've replace the mainbox in etc. but he also did a few tests on the extensions whilst he was at the home and he told me the Sky Phone extension is faulty and is shorting out.

This runs from my dining room, through the wall and across our front room too the baywindow so this is going to be a bit of a pain to replace, however I'm wondering do I need to replace this?

My Sky box is connected up also to the Web via an direct ether net connection and by proxy to the phone, so do I actually need the phone line to?

It would be great if I didn't need the phone line I could just snip it and be one cable less, if I did need it I'm going to have to attempt to get it through the hole in the wall and buy around 10+ meters of cable

As your box is connected to your router it can be disconnected from the phone line as callbacks etc… can be performed via the Internet.

Provided you have completed the minimum period(12 months) and I assume you have, there is no need to keep your box connected anyway.
