Changing xte 2005 adsl nation face plate to vdsl filtered plate

      Hi
If all goes well then I should have fibre in a couple of months. At the moment I have the above filtered face plate. I have been reading about vdsl face plates with interest.
I won't know till I order fibre but will BTO change my faceplate to a new one. Or if it's a self install how easy is it to change the above plate to a vdsl plate. Do I need to re wire everything . Hope not

      Thanks in advance
      Chris

If you want to fit a VDSL plate you will have to replace the existing faceplate with the original. This would involve removing the extension wires from the filtered plate and fixing them on the original faceplate. The VDSL plate then fits between to faceplate and backplate. No rewiring is needed for this part, only longer screws which would normally be supplied with the plate.

To be honest if you have a filtered plate and it has been performing well with ADSL, then I would leave it in place and use it. If you are not happy with the performance with Fibre, you could then consider replacing it with a VDSL plate.

      Hi isitme

Many thanks for the reply - I will leave it and see how it does. Do you think if BTO come and install the router will they get their nickers in a twist because its not a BTO faceplate.
      Cheers

Re: Changing xte 2005 adsl nation face plate to vdsl filtered plate

The faceplate is nothing to do with them. The faceplate you have is not designed to work with vDSL so if a full install they should change it to the new version. That will depend on how good an engineer you get...

      Thanks guys
I used to think that if you changed the face plate then bt would not touch it as it's not their equipment.

The faceplate is designed to be user changeable. However BT started saying the vDSL plate was theirs too! Only if it breaks it suddenly becomes yours!!!
