Basically im having issues with my new XTE, all down to me and the installation. I have the master socket with then 3 extenstions all with filters, I am now running a 10m modem cable from the XTE mastersocket to the router. I only need the ADSL connection on the XTE faceplate to be the connection for ADSL, all the other sockets can be fully filtered.

So my question is which wires should I plug into which sockets on the faceplate? From the sounds of it I need to connect just the 2 blue cables to 2 & 5, and leave the ADSL side of things alone, is this correct. Being stupid I forgot to see which cables connected where on the old faceplate, so its all been trial and error, with me getting the upstairs phones to be completely cut off etc.
the XTE-2005 faceplate can be used to isolate bb to one (the master) socket, or you can run a dedicated extention to a specific socket. you cannot, however, have a socket with a bb only signal - its either phone only or both.....

a faceplate which would offer terminals to lead to a socket with bb only would be very beneficial so anyone reading this - get on it!!

Simply sync your router at night. Unplug your router at midnight for 30 seconds. Plug it back in, let it sync. Problem solved. (Trust me on this, I can't be bothered to explain it all as I'm on lunch) suffice to say line conditions change over a day, heat, noise whatever else.

Re: ADSL Nation NTE-2005 Master face plate

O.K. thanks IAmNotTheEnemy!!,

Can someone confirm if wires attached directly to the A & B terminals on the master socket are indeed unfiltered at that stage?

Also, Can I plug my router into an unfiltered socket & just use the filters where phones & sky box are attached?

Thanks!!

I was told that to get the highest sync to reboot between 9.30am and lunchtime......so who is right ????????????

Re: ADSL Nation NTE-2005 Master face plate

you will get a higher sync during the day but in the evening you may well lose connection as more people go online (will drag your SNR down), to get a more stable connection re-sync in the evening (you may have to do it a few times if the SNR drops) but this will give you a line that should stay up and be able to handle the change during day and night

(sorry if that is not that great a explanation)

P.S have a read of router stats explained in my sig

Re: ADSL Nation NTE-2005 Master face plate

So in other words if you reboot in the morning you get a higher sync but if you reboot in the evening or as said earlier after midnight post # 72 you will get a lower sync but a higher noise margin but your line will be more stable.

Is that correct ?

Re: ADSL Nation NTE-2005 Master face plate

I have recently bought the XTE-2005 from ADSL Nation and it has resolved a lot of the dropped connections I was getting with the old faceplate in place. Now I just need to get Sky to sort out my in-game ping!

Re: ADSL Nation NTE-2005 Master face plate

Hi,

after I have finished researching on the Internet and measuring my BT socket, I realised that I have old fashion pre-NTE5 1973 LJU2/2A PABX BT Master IDC socket with a capacitor, but no resistor or surge arrestor and the following Dimensions: 68 mm x 68 mm x 25 mm in modern style wiring which is only 2 & 5 wires connected and set it up exactly the same as my Final ADSL Plan A plus its physically fitted with Commtel Internet and Phone Guard at the moment.

I'm only 960 metres away (approx 965 metres) or 2.2 kilometers away from Maida Vale exchange and here are my modem stats so far as follows:

/usr/sbin/adslctl: ADSL driver and PHY status
Status: Showtime Channel: FAST, Upstream rate = 764 Kbps, Downstream rate = 15323 Kbps
Link Power State: L0

I have a few questions about this setup: If I get BT Engineer to replace my old LJU2/2A PABX BT Master IDC socket to standard BT-style NTE5 phone socket silmar to NTE-5a Master Socket (BT Style) and buy XTE-2005 face plate as well, would I get more than 15323 Kbps?

Or if I just replace the old LJU2/2A PABX BT Master IDC socket with XTF-68 Socket and still get get more than 15323 Kbps?

If so, then, I wouldn't able to use Commtel Internet and Phone Guard physically fitted anymore, that's what I'm worried about. I think, its better to leave it as is at the moment.
