Re: ADSL Nation NTE-2005 Master face plate

Hi

If I take off the front of my master socket , which wires and how many will need relocating or disconnecting ?

Is there a standard set of fitting instructions or will they vary and be dependent on an individuals phone line connection / distribution sytem ?

At the moment I have just the master socket that enters the house , the phone plugs straight into here and the sky + boxes are connected to the phone line by way of cheapo phone extentions.

My Broadband connects to my wireless router from the master socket , through a broadband filter a short extention to the netgear router.

So basically I only Have

1 x main socket
2 x Sky+ via cheapo extention cables

First post....

Re: ADSL Nation NTE-2005 Master face plate

Hi, in your case the replacement XTE2005 faceplate would be wired up exactly the same as your existing faceplate. So take note of the colours and connection numbers (typically BLUE/white >2, WHITE/blue >5, and optionally the ringer cable ORANGE/white >3 )

And as the two sockets on the front of the XTE2005 are filtered, as well as its extensions you'll wire in, you'll no longer need any Sky soap on-a-rope filters

I'm not sure from your post if you're using a wireless link between your router and your PC, but if so, this could be a problem area if you're serious about download speeds. I finally gave up on using wireless for my main PC as any slight loss of signal would dramatically affect your final download speed. I would now only use wireless connections to easily connect laptops to the network when required. So I ended up running a high quality long modem cable (link) from the ADSL socket on the front of the XTE2005 to my router, it's now rock solid.

Exactly what I've done. Eliminating any possible dodgy wiring out of the equation. I sync at top speed on my 8mb line now.

Re: ADSL Nation NTE-2005 Master face plate

Hi

We finally (Yesterday ) had Sky BB activated almost a month late and as I can only connect @ around 4MB i am looking to improve speeds any way I can

I have taken off the faceplate of my main Bt box and these are the pictures

Faceplate ( no wires attached )

Backplate ( orange and white only are attached and by screws )

Will I just buy a faceplate and screw it in ? with no messing with wires or will I need to move the wies from the backplate to the frontplate ?

You will just buy the faceplate and simply screw it on where the old faceplate was. No need to even touch the backplate (not meant to be touched anyway).

Re: ADSL Nation NTE-2005 Master face plate

hi are there any high street shops that would sell the xte-2005 faceplate? Currently I do have two wires attached to the back of the faceplate which is for a couple of extensions we have.

Re: ADSL Nation NTE-2005 Master face plate

There are no high street shops that stock the XTE-2005. It is a bit of a specialist item and to be honest the high street shops are fixated on margin not quality. So if they can't make £££'s on selling it they won't stock it. That's the great thing about the internet, companies like ours can now reach people with useful niche products that the shops would either have no interest in or charge exorbitant prices for.

I was in a well known PC shop the other day and noticed they had microfilters for sale at £15. You would think that for £15 you would be getting good quality. Far from it, the filter they were selling was one that is made by a chinese manufacturer and sold for US$2.
