Re: ADSL Nation NTE-2005 Master face plate
Does the Test socket work with the faceplate removed? I ask as whoever did the wiring has not used the normal wire colours and may have done other things differently. It does not look like the work of a BTO engineer. Check that there are wires connected to the AB terminals on the inside plate.

Re: ADSL Nation NTE-2005 Master face plate
the wire you see was connected by me with a diagram that was included in the ext sockets years ago.
there are wire on the inside of the test socket, which go from there to the connection box where the BT cables enter the house.
after i fit the XTE faceplate, all the wire will have been moved to thier right colours, inc in the ext sockets

Re: ADSL Nation NTE-2005 Master face plate
The blue pair is normally used for the carrier, but any colour will work. The main thing is to ensure you are using a pair. ie, if you connect the blue wire with the white strip to terminal 2, the white wire with the blue strip should be used for terminal 5, or vice versa.

Re: ADSL Nation NTE-2005 Master face plate
Hello all
New to the forum after looking for info on faceplates.
It looks like the XTE-2005 is the way to go. Can anyone tell me the best place to buy thisfrom? Run0IT-Direct or ADSl nation?
Many Thanks
Chris

Re: ADSL Nation NTE-2005 Master face plate
The choice is yours. Both work well.
The main guy from run-IT-direct does contribute his time to this forum from time to time and has helped many people out in the past, so it is nice to say a little thank you and pass business his way.

Thanks Scubbie. RE: the question, both are exactly the same(ADSL Nation faceplate vs ours)!! We have the equivalent of the XTE2005 or you can get the BT Openreach product too.

Re: ADSL Nation NTE-2005 Master face plate
I just found this:
'When using an ADSL faceplate, I will point out that when using the AB connectors for extensions instead of 2 and 5 connectors, the wire you would place in 2 connects to B, and the wire you connect to 5, connects to A.'
