I doubt if you will get 1.3Mb upload. I have not seen one report of anyone, even those with very low attenuations, getting the maximum upload. You are doing exceptionally well to get 16Mb d/l with your attenuation.

Regards your query about the different cables, they are the same except they have diffierent Capacitance abilities. Have a look at the Electrical Properties table here - ATL Cables-Drop Wires No.12 10B CAD55M 10 to CW 1406 CW 1411 CW 1417 CW 1378|cables
Don't ask me what it means, its above my head.

Don't ask me what it means, its above my head.
I meant that are they mulit-core twisted pair? To me, its looks exactly the same as my older BT solid 4-core drop cable.

Because I was planning to replace my older BT drop cable with newer mulit-core twisted pair type, since I've a friend who works for BT/Openreach who lives only 5 mins away from me.

But now, I've changed my mind and leave my older BT drop cable as it is, since Sky has upgraded both my download and upload speeds to the following after I send about 12 emails to Sky:

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 16027 kbps 923 kbps
Line Attenuation 32.0 db 19.5 db
Noise Margin 7.2 db 8.0 db

Even, when all my existing extension connections with Commtel Phone Guard fitted with ADSL Nation Microfilter onto new Openreach NTE-5 Master Socket, as well having BT 80B RF3 Internal Junction Box fitted between, its still no dropouts, nothing. No problems so far.

Here is my current full detailed stats so far:

And then, after my 72 hrs period is up. I've decided to reboot my router a few times, to see that my line speeds still the same and it did.

So I've put all my existing connections back on to my new Openreach Master Socket (pic enclosed with this message) including Commtel Internet & Phone Guard and guess what?? My line speeds is still the same!! Check out my detail stats:

Your error rate has doubled, but you may be OK. Let's see how it does over 24 hours.

Re: My horrible BT phone line set up...

Sky is trying messed up my Broadband speeds, after my Sky Broadband Unlimited re-new contract for 7.50 a month instead of paying 10 a month.

Giving me only 14335KB (14.3MB) download speed & 830 kb upload speed, after sorting out with Sky with 2 emails and a phone call afterwards and the guy from Sky (I think his name was Robert) was chatting rubbish about my phone line supports upto 4.5MB and 14MB is good enough. Then, after I've shouted at him that my phone supports upto 14.5MB when I first started using Sky Broadband in May 2007, if my memory serves me correctly and I had the full 16MB download speed & about 1MB upload speeds before the Sky Broadband re-new contract has started. So, he has re-configured my line back to the original broadband speeds, and here are my detailed stats:

Thing is, your line is doing exceptionally well, especially seeing as the Max rate is lower than your sync speed!!

You're extremely right, IWasNotTheEnemy!! I've noticed it again, while I'm putting my new current router detailed stats!!

Thanks to everybody who helped me with sorting out my phone line as well giving me much more confidence & guidance to go through with this! I've decided to create "Rewiring My Phone Line Experience / Guide" in html format for future reference!!

Update on 14-8-11 21:06: After I've sorted out my BT phone line two years from July 2009!! Here are my current detailed stats:

Re: My horrible BT phone line set up...

As I have said before you have an excellent connection. Unfortunately others looking at your stats will expect to get 16Mb from a 33.5 attenuation and very, very few will get anywhere near this.

You should add a rider to your 'Rewiring my phone...' to the effect that what you have done is against the BTO Regulations and anyone following your example do so entirely at their own risk
