Well tbh I have to say this, I am really impressed that both ADSLNation and run-it-direct, as a direct result of this review have both decided to add a sub 10 ADSL Filter to their range, which now means customers have a better choice and a cheaper alternative.

Reviews of these to follow soon.

Here you go people, as per the pole on here we will be stocking the IDC version.

Product is electrically the same as other offerings but with our own part number.

      NTE5 Budget ADSL Faceplate

We will still be stocking the BT Openreach branded Pressac versions( the prefered choice of BT/Openreach, we stock both 3 way and 6 way versions).

Cool Re: ADSL Faceplate Filters - SkyUser Reviews

I fitted a master socket many moons ago when plugin-phones first started, It didn't have the test socket. After reading this post last tuesday I decided to install a new one so I got one of Ebay with free punchdown tool, Then I ordered the adsl faceplate filter from Tamar. Just noticed the 10% discount for S/U members (Doh! and I only got 1 chocolate, Suppose only site founders get 3 eh!)
Anyway, I had a cable running round the room for my old 56k modem and I used this when I got broardband, It's only 6 core flex (worked on alarms year ago and had a shed full of the stuff!) I've heard solid core BT cable is better than flex for the wiring, Is this true? I'd hate to run another cable around the room as I fitted a marble fire surround over the cable

      Hopefully should be fine.

When I ordered mine, Tamar had no idea who I was - As for the 3 chocolates, I must have ordered when they had loads.

It is not so much the difference between stranded flex and solid core cable. The key difference is alarm cable is not twisted pair. ADSL is what is known as a balanced signal and having the wire twisted into a pair allows for interference to be rejected. However stranded flex is no good for punching into IDC terminals as the blade in the IDC terminal needs a solid wire to grip. Stranded wire will make a poor connection if indeed you can make any connection at all.

Having said all that there is a simple test you can do, leave that extension wire disconnected and connect your router at the master socket, if you don't see any difference in performance there is no point in changing it, if however you do then you might want to consider replacing the wire or moving the router closer to the master socket.

If you get more than 3 chocolates, I will be gutted.
