Hi, i don't want to get into trouble for linking (so site admin please remove if this causes issues!) but the main products in this application would be :-

NTE5 linebox with bellwire filter :-BT Socket, Master, NTE5 Type

OR

3 way filtered faceplate (if you need extensions filtered but have no need for an ADSL extension, ie, router/modem plugs into master socket) :-BT ADSL Faceplate for NTE5 Linebox(NTE2000)

6 way filtered faceplate (same as above but you can run an ADSL extension off the back) :-BT ADSL Faceplate for NTE5 Linebox, 6 Way Version(NTE2005)

If you had a BT engineer out to do a FULL ADSL install they would use one of these kits to run from the 6 way faceplate to where you want your ADSL connection :-

NTE2000 ADSL Extension Kit, 10M
NTE2000 ADSL Extension Kit, 30M

Does that help?

The only reason is to keep it as it should be, imagine if you moved out and the new owners didn't have BB, they would have no micro filters and possibly an old phone, their phone wouldn't ring! This is why BT have come up with the iPlate rather then tell engineers to remove the ring wire.

I am happy for the links to stay in this thread, as it was sort of requested, albeit in a signature.

I cant imagine us moving out anytime soon, and with this a dedicated line for broadband (we have one line for phone and one line for fax, all separate numbers) I imagine it would now be safer to leave it as it is rather than me trying to put the wire back in?

Did the faceplate I have then, not cause any of the noise issues, rather just my distance to the exchange? I imagine I will not see any improvements now that I have removed the wire?

Thanks for the ongoing help.

I wouldn't try putting the wire back in as you could damage the IDC block without the correct tool. I doubt that you will see any difference in performance, you don't have anything to gain by putting it back in so just leave it as it is

I think a better idea, would be to do a thread, with the necessary information re parts etc and then we could maybe sticky it. Sort of like a comprehensive how to get the best out of your BT connection if that makes sense.

I would to be fair, like to see links for yourselves and Adslnation, as alternatives. Maybe you and Darren could compile this between you. This way, our members and hopefully both your companies would benefit as well.

Re: Ring wire help please!

The only problem is people still ask for direct links in threads like these, i'll leave it up to you to see what you think, we have the sticky at the top already with links so maybe change that to have a guide??
