Cabling Q - Just to confirm

OK i'm rewiring my extension to the master socket with cat5e cable.

Just to confirm that on the master socket I connect only the Blue and Blue/White cable?

If I want ring then I do the orange and the orange/white as well, right?

On the extension socket I connected Green, Blue and Orange and then Green/White, Blue/White and Orange/White. Brown pair left unconnected.

Cheers

Re: Cabling Q - Just to confirm

No, you only need pins 2 and 5 connected. Connecting the bell wires will reduce you noise margin and modern phones don't need it.

Re: Cabling Q - Just to confirm

If blue and white are connected to pins 2 and 5 then yes.

if your using cat5, then it doesnt matter what cable it is, so long as its connected to the same terminals on the extension!
