Question Getting Sky Max - Which faceplate to buy?

Hi Guys,

I have ordered Sky Broadband and while I am waiting for the equipment just wanted to confirm something. I have just moved into my new flat. It only has 1 BT wall socket and after unscrewing the bottom half of the face plate I can confirm that it is the master socket as the test socket is behind on the right.

I have read about the potential speed increased of using this socket but not liking the idea of having an ugly micro filter on there and half the face plate missing, so was looking at buying a split faceplate from ADSL-Nation, can I just check that for my situation this is the best buy:

ADSL Nation - XTE-2005 - Filtered Master Faceplate

Looks to be the right thing but have seen others mentioned, obviously dont wanna buy the wrong one lol

Please help

Thanks

Scott

Hi

That is the faceplate that I have replaced my old one with, absolutely 100% recommend it.

Re: Getting Sky Max - Which faceplate to buy?

The fastest speed and cleanest signal is from the test socket, try connecting into that first and then look at your stats using mognuts nifty utility found here. This will give the max speed possible from your line, fitting another faceplate will not make any difference to the master socket speed but can have a big impact for extensions since you have to run the extension wire from the faceplate. For more details have a look here.
Welcome to the site, you'll find some very knowledgable people here (I'm not one of them BTW).

Mine came today and is now fitted, just waiting for my Cat5 cable and we'll be all good. Got good stats so far too.

Re: Getting Sky Max - Which faceplate to buy?

Thanks for the replies guys,

This arrived yesterday and although it didnt increase my speed, it does look alot better than a filter hanging from the socket.

For only £10 its worth it. My line was already synced at 15meg so couldnt do much better lol
