Casually glancing over the General Chat forum, I noticed a strange post, which just seemed to be out of character.

Quote:
Hi all,
I am new in programming and I just joined a company that offers secure file transfer software components. So I firstly want to gather some selective information on why should I use Secure FTP instead of FTP? And why is SFTP better than FTP?
Thanks in advance!
Now a couple of members had replied with useful links and then there was another reply:

Quote:
Hi, first of all congratulation for job. Despite the similarity in name the two protocols are completely different. In FTP all data is passed back and forth between the client and server without the use of encryption. This makes it possible for an eavesdropper to listen in and retrieve your confidential information including login details. With SPAM LINK REMOVED all the data is encrypted before it is sentient across the network. Hope you will satisfy with my opinions. I wish you for your great career.
All the best!
Now that may not seem strange to you, but today we had had another one:

Quote:
Hi all, I am running a large scale business and some time I have to transfer large and very important data files to my business partner. I fear about my data because there are many of my business competitors who will definitely try to steal my important data. So there is huge amount of risk involved in sharing my important data on Internet. I recently heard about secure file transfer technique from my friend who is working in well established software company. Does anyone have any idea about what is Secure File Transfer (SFT) service and how does it work?
Now, see the similarities? Why on earth would someone from an airtelbroadband.in IP (An ISP in India) take the time to register as 3 different people, just to post questions like the first one, and then reply, and then ask a similar question?

Doing a quick Google Search I came across the exact same text:

http://www.skyuser.co.uk/forum/redir...p%3Fp%3D178190

http://www.skyuser.co.uk/forum/redir...p%3Fp%3D647982

The answer suddenly dawned on me, they were obviously trying to promote their website, and the product that they sell for Secure FTP.

Well sorry to tell you Mr Spammer, the whole IP range that you have used to register has now been blocked, and all of your posts deleted.

Try and get you inbound links up on another forum instead of wasting our time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you want to see a forum under attack, have a look at the Arctic Moneys forum. To register, you have to pass a "Turing test" AND have to activate your account by email, and still the first page of their "rant" section is taken over by pr0n and cheap drugs every night.

Hi all,
I am new in programming and I just joined a company that offers secure message transfer software components. So I firstly want to gather some selective information on why should I use Anti-Spam Forum instead of Normal Forum? And why is Admin better than Moderator?
Thanks in advance!
