Orange - Upgrade your phone?

Posted 09-10-07 at 04:06 AM by NewsreadeR
Having been a customer of Orange for about 2 and a half years, I felt I was behind the times technology wise.

I rang last week to ask for a new phone as an existing customer. Well, if you think Sky are bad for existing customers, think again.

I wanted a Blackberry phone. Why? Cos they looked posh and full of features that I would probably never use.

Would they give me one FOC? Nope....

The price I was quoted was £149.00

After threatening to cancel, it was finally discounted to £79.

As I am as tight as a duck's backside, I said no and was put through to cancellations.

Paying £35.00 per month (at least £1050.00) over and above the term of my contract, I was informed that I was a low spender and that no more discount was applicable.

I tried every trick in the book, no way were Orange going to budge.

In the end the best deal I could get was:

http://shop.orange.co.uk/shop/show/h...il/pay_monthly

With a £25.00 credit, and a 512mb Memory card.

I got the phone yesterday and am well happy. I did want the Blackberry one, but will just have to settle for this. Having paid Sky £300.00 for HD and Sky+ my Missus was not going to let me spend any more

Orange, So people do actually still use them? Even after they remove half of the damn features and plaster it with their silly network branding.

Yes. I have been with Orange for years.

As for the bloatware, plenty of posts to remove it plastered on the information superhighway.

£25 credit was on my account as I moaned there was no case. That reminds me, I ain't had my memory card yet.

Well my phone has had to be replaced, having spent about 3 hours on the phone to them, explaining that my phone has been locking up, they agreed to replace my new phone for a refurbed one.

Naturally I told them that was unacceptable, to their credit, they did agree to replace it with a brand new one. This arrived about 20 minutes ago and hasn't locked up yet.......

Give Orange their dues, they have just credited £176.25 to my account for the hassle and to buy my wife a new phone. Long story but it got broken in all the messing around.
