Lack of Play.com

I don't easily get wound up, but Play.com managed to do it this morning....
I ordered Crysis on the 13th November 2007 from them at a cost of £26.99.
Having placed the order I rang them to make sure everything was OK and that it would be despatched asap. As the game is released on 16th November and me being an avid gamer I wanted to make sure that I would have it in time.
Yes, Sir, everything is fine, your order has been accepted and it should be posted within 24 hours.
Wednesday, I checked on line, status was PACKING, with an explanation that the item is ready for despatch.
Thursday, I checked on line, status PROCESSING, rang to see what that means.
It means, its waiting to be despatched. Having wasted about 25 minutes speaking to a supervisor, explaining that I really wanted the game by tomorrow, and that if the person on Tuesday had told me the situation in a correct light, I could have ordered it elsewhere.
I asked if there was anyway they could despatch it today Special Delivery, so that I could have it by tomorrow. No Sir, we cannot do that.
I asked if there was any way to cancel the order, as they still could not guarantee it would be despatched today. Sorry, no we cannot. You will have to wait for the order to be received, even though we cannot tell you when it will be despatched. Once you receive the item, post it back to us and we will refund your card.
How crazy is that? It will cost them money to send the item to me, it will cost them money for me to send the item back to them, and then I will still have to wait for them to get off their backsides and process the refund.
Well, Play.com you have just lost a customer, a customer who has spent hundreds of pounds with you on line. Way to go.
In absolute seeing my backside with Play.com protest, I have removed all of their banners from our Ad Rotation, I am damned if I am going to promote such a shoddy, well Sir, there is nothing I can do, operation.

Still no game from Play, managed to get it from PCWorld last night online for £27.99, ordered and then picked up from the local store, saving £7.00
For those of you who want to know what it is like. Awesome. With 2 x ATI x1950's in XFire, still have to run in medium. Got my RMA from Play to send it back when it decides to arrive. Result. |
