Does Sky Know the Meaning of Customer Service?

Posted 19-08-08 at 09:30 PM by maryoli
I don't normally use this sort of site but I am so angry at the way Sky Customer Service has treated me I had to make myself heard somehow!!
I moved home in March, at the time I called to cancel I was talked into moving onto the minimum package of £5.00 a month. As we were moving to a conservation area we knew that we wouldn't be allowed to have a dish on the house but we did want to explore the options available once we moved.
It took some time-there was a dish in the community garden that we weren't sure we were allowed to use or not and we didn't know how to connect the dish to our tv.
In the meantime I noticed that we had been charged £16.00 in June for Sky and bearing in mind that we hadn't been able to use the service since we moved in, I thought it would be a fairly straightforward phone call to arrange a refund-I was wrong!!
I got put through to some awful call centre in Scotland who informed me that the minimum charge was only for 3 months-I exlained that I hadn't been able to use the service, but they didn't care; I was told to basically pay up or just cancel!!!
I cancelled my DDR with the bank and then received a snotty letter from Sky saying I had to ring them to cancel or they wold continue to charge me £16.00 per month and add on an extra £4.00 a month in admin charges!!!
So I rang today and advised I was going to cancel; I said to the girl that I would probably receive better service if I just cancelled and re-joined later as a new customer and her response? 'Well you won'lt receive any special offers as a new customer, you will be treated as an existing customer because you were a customer before'
She then told me that Sky was going to charge me an additional £16.00 whilst I served my one month notice and no doubt they will charge an extra £4.00 in 'admin charges' as well!
I really, really wish I had just cancelled when I moved; I have never been treated with such contempt or with such a lack of respect in my life, I feel like I have been mugged and I will do everything in my power to make sure that as many people as possible know how appallingly I have been treated and try to make sure that nobody I know makes the mistake of joining Sky.
