Re: Non-Sky Router Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Sky will not give you your username and password over the phone, in fact it is impossible for them to do so until you have connected the Sky router. The username and password are specific to the router, not the user, phone line or account, so are not visible until the router is connected.

Sorry there is not much you can do unless you have a friend with a Sky router which you can borrow. Any registered Sky router will work on your line, provided ADSL has been enabled on it..

Re: Non-Sky Router Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

I have tried many different routers and don't find much difference in any of them for what I want. Others may need settings the Sky routers don't provide, but I don't. I use ethernet mainly so would get no advantage from an N standard router.

Re: Non-Sky Router Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

I have a mobile which is about 8-10 years old, the only time I use it is when I am on holiday and want to find out where the hell my wife has got to. I don't want, or have any need for, a 'smart' phone, I am one of the old school who think a phone is for making phone calls.

I'm with you Tom. I see no reason to replace my old one.

To use a non-sky router, can I get the username/password in any other way other from the sky router? And will sky never give me this over the phone?

      Thank you for any help?
Not to sound harsh but it's no Sky's fault the weather has turned bad, or that you can't work from home as Sky don't support business use. Sucks, though

Re: Non-Sky Router Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Just a Quick question guys, i understand all about the way they can find out and that they will or can disconnect the service but do they shut everything down i.e Broadband, Phone and TV ? would they want to lose 80 a month on TV and then the Phone and Broadband all over a router as theirs are not really the best anyway.
i have moved to O2 for this reason but my friend has just started his contract.http://speedtest.net/result/1063013729.png

Re: Non-Sky Router Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

If Sky were to cut you off for using your own router, it would be the broadband only. The Broadband, TV and Talk are all separate contracts, although it may seem like one when you sign up.
