Sky Hub SR102, DD-WRT and OpenVPN

      Hello,

I have searched around looking for a solution for this but can't seem to find anything that fits - this is the closest thing but it is from 2012 using a ddwrt router in conjunction with Sky router

What I would like to do is connect my Sky Hub SR102 to my DD-WRT router (E1200) and then use open VPN to use a service like IP Vanish. Would following the instructions above work ok or is there another route I should follow? I am really new to all of this so am a bit unsure...

Any help that can be offered would be great.

      Thank you

Re: Sky Hub SR102, DD-WRT and OpenVPN

So i ended up figuring this out after reading several different threads and going around in a massive circle. Turns out all you have to do is:

      1. Connect an ethernet cable to the ethernet port of the sky router to wan port of the dd-wrt router
      2. On the sky router disable IPV6 on LAN side in LAN IP Setup
      3. On dd-wrt router go to setup -> basic setup
      - set wan connection type to Automatic configuration
      - in network setting set the gateway to the admin address of the sky router e.g. 192.168.0.1
      - save & apply then reboot (it may automatically reboot)
      4. Once dd-wrt router has rebooted look in the top right hand corner of the admin screen for your wan ip
      5. Log in to sky router admin and go back to LAN IP Setup and then Address registration. Click add and then select the dd-wrt router (it will be the same address as the wap ip from step 4) and then lick add and then apply.
      6. Reboot the dd-wrt router. Once complete you should now have internet access by connecting to the dd-wrt. You can disable wireless on the sky router if you wish
      7. input your vpn details from your provider and reboot

Hopefully all that makes sense and is useful for someone.....

That is a very good and useful write up.

Have you got a requirement to VPN into your network from outside? If you have, how are you doing it?

      Cheers.
