OR and RT-N66U 10mbps slower than with SR102

      Hello boys and girls,

While I absolutely love my ASUS RT-N66U I have been having long-term issues with speeds of Sky Fibre (40mb unlimited package) and BT Open Reach modem. It's bullet-proof reliable but only receive speeds (via Speedtest.net) of upto 28Mbps download (9.48Mbps upload so that's fine) no matter what I try. Yet if I plug the SR102 rubbish back in I get the full 38Mbps speeds, so my guess is it's something configuration related...

My ASUS RT-N66U is on Merlin FW 380.57 (tried older versions too) and I have tried both Open Reach modems; The ECI and Huyawi with nearly identical results. Neither of the modems have been cracked but doing so on the Huyawi may help diagnose the issue?

Anyone else experienced this? Any thoughts? We've just signed up for Sky Fibre for another year so I would love to get the most out of it without switching back to the SR102.

      Thanks in advance
      Nick

Unlock Huawei following Kitz guide. Then you can post your actual stats and someone can tell you if it's right.

      coipu,

Thank you for your reply. Without wishing to sound like I need spoon feeding, do you have the link to the .pdf guide? I have the firmware but the links I can find to unlocking the HG612 point to wordpress, which is no longer valid? I can't find any posts on the search for kitz?

Sorry - what I DIDN'T search in though was google. My bad.

So I'm guessing I should be concerned that the bearer is only allowing me 29996 Kbps ?

Was there an indication of Bearer 1 in your stats, I mean have you edited that out?

No Bearer 1 would indicate no G.Inp, which would suggest you are on an ECI cab.

Not seeing all of the stats there, need to see interleave depth etc.

      Hi marjohn56,

I've not edited anything out - I can't see any mention of Bearer 1.
What needs to be run to get the interleave depth stats please?

Looks to be a stability cap from repeated reboots to me

Find out what cab type your on
and fit said modem to match it
and never touch it or power it down

Im on an eci cab and its running G.Inp on the downstream

Re: OR and RT-N66U 10mbps slower than with SR102

This set-up has been pretty much (minus 1 power cut) permanently on for about 6months with this speed. It's only recently that I've got around to looking into it.

Am I right in thinking my only real option is to phone up Sky and ask them to reset my line? Perhaps I switched to the OR from the SR102 too soon when it was installed (after a week)?

Interestingly if I plug the SR102 back in now I get the full speed?

Really? When did that happen, must be only in the last few weeks. Good news if OR have finally got G.Inp onto ECI cabs. Now we wait for vectoring to be rolled out.
