Even if you could establish a test connection to Sky's servers, without username/password it would not be possible to authenticate the connection with Sky's Radius server which is required before a connection to the internet can be enabled.

I have read on some forums that SKY MER might work only with the MAC cloning. Do you have to have the username/password as well?
Consider MER on a Sky Fibre connection as a red herring. Nothing more Nothing less.

      You need to use Opt.#61

You can use Opt.60, but this isn't required.

You don't need to spoof the MAC address, even though some swear by it.

      Just Opt.#61.

Opt.#61 requires that you use the username and password that your original Sky router should be sending to the Sky Servers for authentication. Part of this includes the MAC Address, but that's the username, so nothing to worry about there.
