Restroing the Sky Firmware on a DG834GT
Hello
As the title says, is it possible to put the sky firmware back on a DG834GT router. The reason I ask
is this:
I flashed the Netgear generic firmware onto the router in order to access the modem only function to allow me to use a second router and thus provide better/faster wifi within my network. Turns out this was not strictly necessary after seeking advice on this forum.
The reason I ask if I can reverse this, is MER replacing PPPoA. I am currently using PPPoA. I must point out that the I am pretty ignorant of the technologies mentioned (PPPoA and MER) and don't
understand if MER is for certain sky packages/access or everyone.
I understand this version of MER is unique to Sky and needless to say its not available on the router with the current firmware.
I suppose another question would be, could this router ever of handled Sky's MER?
Does it look like if MER turns up here its a new router from Sky time?
Please excuse my ignorance on the subject and thanks for any advice
Regards

I am not sure of this but the experts will be along soon.
Do you have the original sky install disc? if so have a look and see if it contains a firmware image and you may be able to flash it back to that.

Re: Restroing the Sky Firmware on a DG834GT
There is firmware supporting MER available for all Sky router models, although I don't think they've rolled out the one for the Black netgear router yet.
If you want to download the current firmware for the white netgear which supports MER and PPPoA, then replace AABBCCDDEEFF with the LAN port MAC address from your white sky netgear router (in capitals with no colons) in the following URLThis should open a page of text containing a download url, I believe the url part should start with "download.skyfirmware.com" and end with ".img" and they'll be spaces between the domain name, the path, and the filename. You'll need to copy the url to your browser's address bar and edit out the spaces and that should give you a copy of the latest firmware.Code:http://dg834gt.skyfirmware.com/?mac=AABBCCDDEEFF&firmwareVersion=1.3.87&model=dg834gt&product=skydsl
