Restoring sky dsl config backup onto sky fibre router?

To save time I'd like to know if I can restore a backup of my dsl sagem router to the new fibre router? Same model with tweaked firmware I guess?

      Thanks

Re: Restoring sky dsl config backup onto sky fibre router?

Someone has managed to clone the Sky firmware on the Netgear DG834GT.

Sadly there are no reports to date of custom firmware or cloning on the Sagem 2304n.

If you have a router with more up to date firmware, then this is good. Early firmware versions had a few too many issues on the Sagem 2304n.

Sorry scubbie I just meant just the config file that you save/backup/restore with wireless keys, ssids, dyndns info etc, not the actual firmware. (unless that's the same thing?) From the old 2304n to the new fibre enabled 2304n

I went ahead and it's worked fine anyway, and you can still use it over dsl connection as thought until my changeover on Monday. I hope I haven't wiped the info relating to port 1 being used for the BTO modem...

      Ok.

I am a little confused though. Which router is you old router?

The new Sky router for the Fibre connection is the Sagem 2504N. It has a silver top and is available in two version (ADSL only, Cable & ADSL) with appropriate firmware for each.

The Sagem 2304n is a totally different router and has a dark grey top. The current firmware only supports an ADSL connection.

Anyway, one important thing that I would recommend to you now is to check the settings once more. There is an option to choose between which connection the Sagem 2504N (for Cable) uses. The options include: Auto, PPPoE (might say something different) and ADSL. For now check that 'Auto' has been chosen.

This should be the only issue over using it for SBUF.

Re: Restoring sky dsl config backup onto sky fibre router?

      Sorry

      Ok I'll try again

      New router is this:
      Manufacturer Sagemcom
      Model Number F@ST2504n
      Firmware Version 5.27.1a4N
      ADSL Firmware Version A2pD030n.d23b

Old router is the same model in looks (both have silver tops) but has a different firmware and is Version 5. The one above was delivered today for my fibre setup and is Version 7. The adsl side is still operative and allows connection to sky, I'm using it now. OR my original old router was a 2504n (it's NOT got the dark grey top) Can't find model number on the box.

I've gotta go out but will update this post tomorrow by logging into both routers and getting firmware and modem versions up. I don't wanna confuse matters further.

Thanks for your help so far

      OK Update

Logged into old router and got this info. It's exactly the same as the new one.

      System Details Manufacturer Sagemcom
      Model Number F@ST2504n
      Firmware Version 5.23.1a4N
      ADSL Firmware Version A2pD030n.d23b

I'll find out Monday when my fibre modem is installed if I've buggered it. All I wanted to do was restore the configuration changes I'd made by file from the old router to the new (same model but fibre enabled) one. Sorry for the confusion, it's one of those days.

Re: Restoring sky dsl config backup onto sky fibre router?

If they are both Silver topped, then they will be both Sagem 2504Ns.

What you've done is good though as there are a few members who are switch to SBUF who have the ADSL only version of the Sagem 2504N.
