Question WRT54GL (Gateway) to WAG54GS (Modem) Settings?

Hello, I'm a NEW Sky Broadband (mid) user being activated tomorrow and I was wondering if any of you would be so kind as to help me?

I know there are many threads LIKE this already and so I apologise if this upsets or annoys anyone, but I have a believe my problem to be unique in that I wish to use a WRT54GL as my Gateway and the WAG54GS as my Modem.

Now, I know a little about internal networking (LANs) as I have done CCNA1 & 2 (But this was a while ago) and have been around computers (Windows, Linux and Mac) a lot of my life, but when it comes to Connecting to the internet through a Modem/Router/Gateway I can get confused with the multitude of settings the WRT54GL and WAG54GS have.

First things first, what settings (and if you'd be so kind as to tell me them all, I'd really appreciate it!) do I need to get the WAG54GS to act as a modem and connect to the DSL Line for sky as the UBR/CBR/VBR (i.e. advanced settings (so not just that)) confuses me.

And then what settings do I need to give the WRT54GL (again as many as possible, if you'd be so kind) to act as a gateway on the network so that it can allow my Devices (Wired and Wireless) to connect to Sky Broadband?

By the way, I do already have my User name and password, the blah@skydsl and the Alphanumerical password, so that's no problem

P.S. Any more information you need, I'll be happy to get it for you

P.P.S. Do I need to plug the Sky Router in first so they can test my speed?

You would be well advised to get your connection up and running before you even consider using another modem/router.

You will find all the information you need to use a 3rd party router in this section (Technical Help) in particular this thread. Non-Sky Router Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

This thread will give you some guidance in setting up a gateway router -
