High Ping Problems

Hello,

Hope someone can help me this is driving me crazy.


I am on ADSL2 Line, 16MB -

DownStream Connection Speed 4416 kbps
UpStream Connection Speed 768 kbps

I get good download speeds of about 600KBps but download speed has nothing to do with ping so i have heard.

Sometimes it reached 5012kbps but that dont bother me. Its my pings that are pretty high when playing games. I can play on UK servers fine with 40-55 Ping. But if i go on other servers i get 95-120 Ping. My friends on Sky or Virgin get 60 Pings.

Please dont say do a virus scan because its nothing to do with that it has been like this for a long time even on my old PC.

Have you asked for your max delays to be reduced ?
A quick search of the forum will reveal all, tho heres a starter for 10

Also post the stats from your router, which will show if there are any problems with your wiring.

That link you sent me does not work. No such thread. I have not asked for my max delays reduced do i ring Sky and they will do this for me?

Whats the number to ring to get hold of Tier 3?

Do i just ask them to turn my max delays to 8? also will they understand what that means?

you can ring tier 3 if you want...don't expect much, though...













(tier 3 don't exist any more - just CST)...
