DG834PN bricked while upgrading firmware to DGTEAM

hi folks,

i was trying to upgrade my DG834PN to use firmware from DGTeam but it is now dead.

it comes on, and flashes the green and yellow lights before going into green. it refuses to connect.

i did setup my with static IP (192.168.0.2) and tried to ping and connect web interface (192.168.0.1) but nothing,

i have also tried netgear's restore tool but it does not work.

any suggestions are most welcome.

regards

Nicolas

If the lights go green then it sounds like the flash went OK. Have you done a hard reset?

If all else fails then try flashing back to the official Netgear firmware using the recovery utility (or is that what you mean by the "restore tool"?).

Re: DG834PN bricked while upgrading firmware to DGTEAM

It might sound odd but I've seen several reports where the netgear utility has needed 10 or more attempts before it has "taken". Before you write off that £75, it might be worth trying again (and again) before giving up - and try another PC/laptop if you have one (must be XP not Vista).

Re: DG834PN bricked while upgrading firmware to DGTEAM

Ah - the inference there being that the PC you used previously was Vista?

It does say on the Netgear site that the recovery utility is only compatible with XP. What it should say is that using it with Vista will (often but not always) kill the router

Hope you're not in that position.
