Cu3?

In another thread, I asked a question about changing the DNS settings in my SKY router (Netgear ver. 1 - FW V1.03.87), which appear to be hard coded. I was told to try using CU3 and was given a link to it. However, the link only took me back to the thread I was already reading. Can anybody help with a link that works. Or should I not bother about changing the DNS settings in my router and just go with the changes I've made (to Open DNS) in control panel.
TIA.

Re: Cu3?

I would stick with the computer and leave the router alone. My standby Speedtouch has Open DNS on it, but the sagem works just as well, with Open DNS on the computer.

Re: Cu3?

It is in the thread you were reading, but it is a long thread. I don't quite understand how you were unable to find the Link. Try it again and if it does not take you there direct, scroll to Post#58. You will find it there. It is well worth installing as it gives other useful options.

Whilst the default values are hard-coded, they can be overridden in the sky firmware and saved in nvram - you don't need CU3. If you telnet to the router, you can type something like:

nvram set wan_dns1=208.67.222.222
nvram set wan_dns2=208.67.220.220
nvram set wan_fix_dns=1

That will survive a router reboot.

If you can't get to a telnet prompt, there are a large number of ways to enable it in the Sky firmware. Personally, I use BSR New monitor tool (2.0.0.0) to reboot router automatically, but then again, I would.
