Trying to use dcc on mIRC

Hello,
Can you help me please? I have just joined Sky Broadband and can log on here and send & receive e-mails but I cannot get the dcc working in mIRC. I can get into the Sagem Router but have no idea of how to set it up so that the dcc will work and I'd be very grateful for any help and guidance you can give me.

make sure you go to mirc options and go to dcc options and allow whatever filetypes you want/need and then go to your router and port forward the relevant ports from this post How to set up port forwarding to an internal server of any type

also where the guy says port 3389 , you can substitute that for your dcc port number ,hope this helps
