Thumbs down 2nd hand Sky Netgear router - will it work?

Hi, spent the best part of 3 hours searching and haven't found the answer so here is my question, if anyone can tell me yes or no (how to get to work, etc,) or atleast post a link to the correct thread on here, that'll be greatly appreciated.

The problem is my Netgear router has an electrical fault, where by on powering up, the numbers 1 to 4 light (the Lan lights) then go off then nothing, no lights no internet connection, nothing

My question is can I buy a New or 2nd hand "Sky wireless Router" off the internet and it will work straight away or atleast can I mod it to have the same Network key / MAC address as my broken one?

Cheers

Joe.

Your user name and password can only be added to a new router if you have access to the original router -- and follow the tutorial on this site on extracting them.

The MAC ID is embedded I think though it is possible to spoof it.

Call sky tech support and have a new router sent out. Tell them no lights are on and that the socket has been checked and is working. Even if out of the 12 month warranty it will be replaced.

Or, failing a new one, try a different PSU.
