NAS & Sky Router

Hey guys, I've already done some seraching on this site, but not got a definate answer.

Do NAS box's work OK with sky's routers?

I currently have the Sagem F@st router from sky and am thinking of getting a Buffalo or a Iomega NAS.

Thanks in advance.

Z

Re: NAS & Sky Router

Yep got one working fine here, gave it a manual IP address of 192.168.0.99 and have it mapped to a drive letter on each PC accessing it. No problems at all.

Re: NAS & Sky Router

i have a buffalo link station pro duo that was connected to my sky router netgear v1. It was terrible. I couldnt transfer files from my laptop (wireless) to the nas and vice versa. I stuck a wireless switch inbetween them and disabled the wireless on the netgear router and it all started to fly. Not tested it on my new sky router (sagem thing) but I have a feeling the wireless was faulty on my netgear. Try it and find out.

Re: NAS & Sky Router

saltymate - when you tried the netgear v1, what firmware was it with, the orig or the newly released one?

Re: NAS & Sky Router

Weird, I have 2 LinkStation Live boxes connected up to my v1 router, although it is through a switch and they work fine, even with the lappy connected wirelessly.

This was both with new and old firmware.

Re: NAS & Sky Router

I've been using a Netgear SC101 for years now. It is connected to my BT v2 HH (acting as a switch/wap) and DHCP is handled by my Sky Netgear router. I do not use fixed IP addresses.
It all works fine!
