Connecting Pocket PC to net through Netgear Router

Hi,

I'm trying to get our Pocket PC phones connected to the net through our V1 Netgear router. I can see both the phones (and the home PCs) in the 'Attached devices' page but they cannot connect to the net.

Is there a setting I need to change to allow them to work on the router or the phone?

The phones are HTC Tytn II's

In the wireless settings on the phones you will need to add the password (whatever you have set it up on the router) for them to be able to wirelessly access the internet.

The phones are showing as connected to the router so I'm guessing it's a setting on the router that needs changing. I have the SSID and password set on both.

Do you know what type of encryption the phones use?

You would need to make sure the router is set to that mode, ie WEP, WPA etc

In the attached devices make sure they are listed in the access list,

Log into router http://192.168.0.1

admin and sky (unless you have changed the password)

Click on Wireless settings

Click on Setup Access List

Tick Turn Access Control On

Add the details for the phones and voila!

There was a setting that needed changing. something about the network being shared.

Just to confirm you shouldn't have a problem. I have an HTC TyTN and an HP 514, both running Windows Mobile 6, and both connect (even at the same time) using my Sky v1 router.

My laptop is running Vista Home Premium and I used the supplied Windows Mobile disk for the HP 514 to install on the laptop - but it works equally well with the HTC.

I did have some problems with an older Vodafone VPx because Vodafone seemed to have messed around with the WiFi settings. But it worked (in the end) using WM 2003.
