Blocking XBOX Live Access

I have a Sagem router with firmware 1.5 and I want to be able to block the use of my sons XBOX as he is now on it every waking moment instead of doing work.

The settings to block anything on this router seem very limited compared to previous routers I have used so can anyone advise how i can set this up? I would ideally like to do it at set times of the day using the schedule function.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Re: Blocking XBOX Live Access

Hello, I dont have the sagem router, so my instructions cannot be specific to that model however you will need to create a firewall rule.

On the DG834, You would need to goto the services tab, and create a new service, then specify the ports that you want to action within that service. You might need to make 3 rules as:-

• UDP 88
• UDP 3074
• TCP 3074

These are the xbox live ports.

Then go into the firewall settings, select your newly created services and set them to block allways to all lan and wan users.
I think some posh routers may be able to set time zones for these rules to be in place, not sure if the sagem is posh enough mind!

I hope this helps,

ricopico

Many thanks for the response. I'll give it a go once he has come off it!

Re: Blocking XBOX Live Access

you can also set a timer on the console its self, which will allow a cetrain amount of time per day...
eg u can set it for 2 hours, when that 2 hours are up it will save and bring an error asking for parents permission

Re: Blocking XBOX Live Access

you can also block him playing games with certain age ratings from within the consoles parental controls. So you could just block him from playing games from the lowest age rating to the highest.
